Hi guys,

I think I am missing something very evident, but I have been scratching my head for a while and I am not finding anything useful.
I can print using libreoffice, but if I try to print something usinf xpdf I can only print to file.

I am using CUPS (gutenprint) and I have:

Code:

[I] app-text/xpdf
     Available versions:  4.02-r2 ~4.02-r3 {cmyk cups +fontconfig i18n icons +libpaper metric opi png +textselect utils}
     Installed versions:  4.02-r2(03:42:04 PM 04/28/2020)(cups libpaper png textselect -cmyk -i18n -icons -metric -opi -utils)
     Homepage:            https://www.xpdfreader.com
     Description:         The PDF viewer and tools

Any idea?

Thanks,

Efo

Hi fedeliallalinea and thank you.

Spot on, that was it (I had a feeling it was a cups flag).

Looks like it was an evident culprit; how would I go to about finding something like that?

I guess I could
Code:

~ # qdepends okular
kde-apps/okular-19.12.3-r1: >=dev-qt/qtdbus-5.12.3:5 app-text/poppler[qt5] media-libs/phonon[qt5(+)] >=kde-frameworks/kdoctools-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kpty-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kbookmarks-5.63.0:5 app-crypt/qca:2[qt5(+)] dev-qt/qtcore:5 x11-misc/shared-mime-info >=kde-frameworks/kcoreaddons-5.63.0:5 >=kde-apps/libkexiv2-19.12.3:5 >=dev-qt/qtwidgets-5.12.3:5 >=dev-qt/qtgui-5.12.3:5[gif,jpeg,png] >=kde-frameworks/kcrash-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kwallet-5.63.0:5 dev-util/ninja >=dev-qt/qtgui-5.12.3:5 media-libs/freetype >=kde-frameworks/kcompletion-5.63.0:5 dev-util/cmake >=kde-frameworks/kparts-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kio-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/karchive-5.63.0:5 dev-util/desktop-file-utils >=kde-frameworks/extra-cmake-modules-5.63.0:5 app-text/libspectre sys-libs/zlib >=kde-frameworks/kconfigwidgets-5.63.0:5 >=dev-qt/qtsvg-5.12.3:5 >=kde-frameworks/kf-env-4 kde-frameworks/breeze-icons:* >=kde-frameworks/kactivities-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kconfig-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kimageformats-5.63.0:5 media-libs/tiff:0 >=dev-qt/qtprintsupport-5.12.3:5 kde-frameworks/oxygen-icons:* >=kde-frameworks/threadweaver-5.63.0:5 >=kde-frameworks/kjs-5.63.0:5

and check the flags of all packages...

Is there a better way?

Thanks again!

Efo

I looked in the two ebuild, but for me in xpdf ebuild there is an error because if you enable cups also dependency dev-qt/qtprintsupport:5 need to force cups.
So code
Code:
DEPEND="
        cups? (
                dev-qt/qtprintsupport:5
                net-print/cups
        )
        libpaper? ( app-text/libpaper )
        utils? ( png? ( media-libs/libpng:0 ) )
        dev-qt/qtnetwork:5
        dev-qt/qtwidgets:5
        media-libs/freetype
        sys-libs/zlib
"

should be changed in
Code:
DEPEND="
        cups? (
                dev-qt/qtprintsupport[cups]:5
                net-print/cups
        )
        libpaper? ( app-text/libpaper )
        utils? ( png? ( media-libs/libpng:0 ) )
        dev-qt/qtnetwork:5
        dev-qt/qtwidgets:5
        media-libs/freetype
        sys-libs/zlib
"

Once you mention it it makes sense :)
Thanks, more readable than qdepends.

Cheers,

Efo
