Hi,
Am i using an Eclipse based modeling tool (Archi) that I experience rather slow given the horse powers in my desktop; Core i7-8700K, lots and lots of memory, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. On my gentoo stable I run KDE (unstable) and nvidia proprietary drivers.

There are some applications I find slow and I think not making use of OpenGL/OpenCL, inkscape is one and Eclipse based Archi is one.

Is there anything I can do to improve the performance of inkscape and SWT-based applications?

Funny enough the SWT library is not emerged and Eclipse does not even have an ebuild in portage.

I am clueless to where to begin looking into this matter.

There is a accompanying question on the Archi forum: https://forum.archimatetool.com/index.php?topic=858.0

Cheers,
Erik

Did you try this one?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Java#GTK_LookAndFeel
(at the bottom)

Maybe forcing the JRE of eclipse (which is mostly a different one from the JRE on your system, usually lives in the eclipse dir) to use openGL could help you?
I don't think GTK3 mod will help you, afaik eclipse is not shipped with a java9+ jre (even though it supports creating 9+ code)
