Hi,
does anybody know for sure if the soundcard in the iBook2 700Mhz supports full-duplex sound or not?
It is not mentioned in any techdocs that I read. But what use of the internal mic without full-duplex?
Or is there any way to test it?
With the alsa driver under /proc/asound there are two streams mentioned, one for playback and one for soundinput. Can you draw conclusions from this?

Hi
I am having the same problem on an ibook G4 with ALSA
enabled in the kernel (2.6.1 benh). With Alsa enabled, my mixer app shows no volume control for microphone.
If I build the kernel with powermac DMA support and no Alsa then I get a microphone volume control but esdplay/rec to /dev/dsp fails complaining there is no alsa. However I was able to record sound to a file using cat /dev/dsp > filename and playback using cat filename > /dev/dsp
The mic works fine under OSX.
