I'm trying to get video out working on my Pismo, but I really dont know where to start. Anyone out there have any experience with this, or any suggestions? All I know, is that it doesnt work as is. Right now Im running 2.4.22 and DRI works fine, although a bit slow.

I use m3mirror.c from
http://www.penguinppc.org/~benh/
Not sure if that is still the right way to do it with kernel 2.6,
but it works for me. Just compile it

Code:
gcc -o m3mirror m3mirror.c

put it somewhere that is in your path
Code:
mv m3mirror /usr/local/bin/

and then
Code:
m3mirror lcd:1 crt:1

to set both the external and internal video to on.

thanks for the advice, I am now a lot closer to getting this to work. My external monitor now turns on, but it doesnt display quite right. It show remenants of the stuff that is on my screen, but it is completely screwy. Any Idea? Might I need to add something to my XF86conf file? Right now its untouched from when xeasyconf created it.

No, this is something that won't work. The problem is somewhere in the framebuffer and the horizontal refresh rate. I tried to change it, but without any luck. There are several discussions about it on internet.

So, for presentations I still have to boot OS X :-(

The problem is with the way controllers on the chip are being initialized by the aty128 framebuffer driver in the kernel. I actually have a patch for the 2.4.2X something benh kernel. If you (or for that matter anybody else) needs it, I can e-mail it to you. Please send me a private message with your e-mail address.

It is a bit buggy, and I have appropriate warnings in the mail I send with the patch. The good part is that it seems to have work for 3-4 folks who have previously asked for it.

Maybe it could be applied to the 2.6-kernel. Can you mail it to pylon@gentoo.org so that I can take a look on it? TIA

I just wanted to bump this topic to see what the status is. It would be really nice to have this working.
