Hi, everybody. I have tried to compile the kernel ranging from the very recent to the bit older kernels after getting them using emerge. However, I always encounter the problem with compiling a module that refers to openpic and haven't been able to get pass this point. I did a brief search on the forum as well as Gentoo download server and saw that there is this bugfix-10.2.8-openpic.iso. What is this .iso and how to use it? And please inform me how to go about to get my kernel working. What options I should select and leave out because the one in the installation instruction is very general. I am very not happy with what I have done so far (roughly 6-8 times recompiling the kernel)... and I am quite comfortable with compiling the kernel in my PC.

Btw, I tried both the ppc-development-sources (new: 2.6 or old: 2.4) and the regular ppc sources (new and old). I dual boot with Mac OS X Panther 10.3. Yaboot works fine b/c I can just boot up and select to OS X.

Thank you very much for your help.

as far as I know:
- the .iso is an image for an (nostage) livecd whitch has fixed the openpic issue.
- the "openpic issue" comes with an osX update an is an incompatible firmware version with all kernel <= 2.4.21. So if you're usibng 2.4.22 oder 2.6.x it should work.
