Hi!
I've just installed a new HD in my gentoo only iBook2. I don't have an MacOS to iniialise the HD.
I've created a partition-map and a few partitions. with "mac-fdisk -l /dev/hda" I can see all five (hda1 to hda5) partitions, but in /dev I have only hda, hda1, hda2 and hda3. It doesn't matter howmany partitions I create, I've allways the same. I've tried to make only three partitions (bootstrap, swap and root), but when I try to format the partition (with "me2fs -j /dev/hdax" or mkreiserfs /dev/hdax") the machine just crashes.

Any ideas?

My iBook is a iBook2, G3 500MHz, 12"
The new HD is an IBM 40 GB, mac-fdisk shows its correct size.
