Hi,
This is my situation: I want to use an iMac as a gateway and firewall but I to completely turn off the monitor.
I've searched around and asked on IRC but I cannot find an answer to my question. Is there a way to cut power to an iMac monitor.
The things I've tried so far: unplugging the montior capled (I thought about it later and realized that power is not supplied by montior cabls (most of the time) using programs like pbbuttons and pmud (yes, i know it's an iMac and those are for laptops, it was a stretch..), I have also messed around the kernel as well.
So, I've taken the computer completely apart, but I cannot make out how I might connect the power input directley to the motherboad et al.

This the CRT or LCD model of the imac?

On the ibooks in the LCD chasis if you pull the plug from the invertor board (the plug is really big and the pins go deep in cause it's MANY volts) the backlight won't turn on. Also there is a cable from the logic board to a board in the display chasis and then from there to that invertor board.

But I don't know if the iMac has a similar design.
