I'm using kernel 2.6.3_rc2-benh1 with ALSA and OSS emulation enabled.
All the sound system is working, except the "beep" in the console :x
I've compiled the "pc speaker" support into the kernel but it doesn't change anything...
Using alsamixer I can't edit the "pc speaker" channel, maybe it could be the reason of my troubles... :?:

You're right, some times ago I got it working and I found it really annoying!

Now I've disabled it :D

Wonderful! Can you tell me how you disabled it? Was it a kernel option, or a utility or an entry in /sys? So far my Googling hasn't turned up the answer.

(I have turned down the startup beep though...)

Thank you

It's a kernel option:
Code:
CONFIG_INPUT_PCSPKR

You can find it under "device drivers"-->"Input device support"-->"Miscellaneous devices"
