I try to install on my iBook 300 Mhz the kernel 2.6.2_rc3-r1 and when it starts says...

ide_probe_mod (or like this) and no loads ETH0 and the alsa moduels :(

if I try to load manually no puts errors messages but no load nothing... (sungem), on dmesg I have in all log messages like this one...
evbug.c: Event. Dev: adb2:2.c4/input, Type: 0, code 0, Value:0
evbug.c: Event. Dev: adb2:2.c4/input, Type: 1, code 103, Value:1

Later I try to emerge 2.6.3_rc2-r1 and when vmlinux load and put it's messages, the screen go to gray but the system loads. (I don't know if the eth0 works)

How I can do??

Thank you :)

for one, the evdebug.c things mean that you have event debugging turned on in your kernel somewhere. Turn that off to get rid of that error message. When you compiled your kernel, try compiling drivers for your ethernet, video, and sound directly into your kernel for now because it might be a bit easier to diagnose problems and error messages that way.

Solved the problem with 6.2.3_rc2-r1

Only I need put this line on yaboot.conf

append="video=ofonly"

ETH0 runs, and alsa works :)

Now only need the port of xfree-drm for 2.6 kernels :)

Sounds like you are doing pretty good. It took me a while to get my powerbook going but now its great. I dont worry about good video card drivers because I have the original powerbook G4 and it has less video memory than I am really comfortable mentioning in public. :P

i couldnt get pbbuttons working for a while and turns out its cause i didn't have my soundcard set up right. What happens when you try to start pbbuttonsd from the command line after you boot up?

You don't need this, only use the kernel's DRM module.

If your Mach 64 is anything like the one in my Wallstreet G3 powerbook, software rendering is faster than DRM anyway...
