If you download your kernel direktly from kernel.org instead of using portage to get your kernel, you always have to care about the constantly updating of your virtual/kernel.
A simple way to do this is to copy a *-source ebuild to something that isn't in portage.
After that unmerge every installed sources and simply inject your faked coolname-sources. And voila portage will never bug you again by updating stuff.
Of course you need do create a whole directory for the fake-sources so you'll have $PORTDIR_OVERLAY/sys-kernel/homebrew-sources/homebrew-sources-1.0.ebuild
The same scheme should work for other things bugging you out of the virtuals.
Hope it helps someone.

I might be missing something but if you just use the kernels off kernel.org, why not use vanilla-sources or development-sources, which are just the plain kernels off kernel.org |
