I FINALLY got everything up and running, 2.6 kernel, xfree kde but now when I go to emerge new things( kdeutils, vim, ect..) it always comes up with compiles errors. I've tried all the different options in the make.conf file but none seem to work any better. Any suggestions?

Maybe posting an actual error message would be a good start?

ITs weird because I tried to emrege mozilla-firefox this morning and it said it needed 7 things....so the first installed without an issue, second one failed so I changed some settings in the make.conf and that ont went through but then the third failed( gtk-2.2.4-r1) so somethings wrong with something...obviously! :P

Well, I booted up and quit out of KDE...guess what, when I compile it works. Strange?? Yes!! So, something in kde that the compiler does not like, not enough memory, what do you guys think this could be. Givin, only one thing I tried installed in the console that would not in kde but I'm in the process of trying others now so I will keep you updated.

Ok, so thats the reason. Tried to install firefox in kde and it stopped when it install gtk lib with some errors. I shutdown kde and emerge in the console...1.5 hours later everything was install and works perfect. So, anyone have any ideas why emerge wont work in kde?
