Hello,

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 video card.
I see that pre-compiled ATI drivers are available for x86 only. Is there any hope to see them for ppc also ?

If not, what are the alternatives to get at some point 3D working on my Albook.

Regards,

Xavier

At some point, the open source drivers will work great on your radeon (they work fantastic on my TiBook w/ radeon 9000). :)

From http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2004-January/msg01548.html :

Quote:

Q) Will there be Radeon 9500/9600/9700/9800 DRI support?

A) No. The specifications for the 3D engine of that hardware is
not available, and nobody is working on it currently or planning
on doing so to the best of my knowledge. If the specifications
were to become available, it would probably be anywhere from 6 to
12 months for stable DRI support to become available, and require
funding to develop. For further details, please search the DRI
project's mailing list archives for this very frequently asked
question, as the answer doesn't change over time. ;o)

I actually posted a similar thread on the xfree86 develop mailing list
(http://www.mail-archive.com/devel@xfree86.org/msg05480.html)

I didn't get a concrete answer, however :-(
