hey there all,

i am a devout gentoo user, and am finally ready to try it on my powerbook. i really like it on my home server/workstation.

this is a 1GHz TiBook, with radeon mobile 9000 graphics, CD-RW/DVD-ROM. i know that many of you out there are running gentoo successfully on laptops just like this. so, i have some questions, some will have to be answered by folks with these machines, some won't, so here we go.

1. is everything working on this model? wireless network? 3D acceleration? CD-RW? power management? etc. etc.
(i believe that i have read that most of it is, but just double checking.)

2. what window manager do the apple folks use? for example, since there is only one mouse button, is fluxbox difficult since it uses a right-click menu? also, does X support the strange 1280 x 854 resolution that these wide screens use?

3. what sort of software works well with these CD-RW drives? K3B looks nice, anyone using it?

4. is there an ideal kernel config for this machine? since the hardware is always the same (except for RAM and HDD sizes), does anyone have a nice config that works well and doesnt put un-needed stuff in there?

5. in general, has anyone gotten an iPod to work well? it looks sketchy at best. i have a firewire model, and would hope that i could get it working.

well that is all i can think of for now. i will add more if i can think of anything. all advice/input is VERY appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you have an azerty keyboard (french or dutch) make sure you search the bugzilla for the correct keymap, none of the keymaps in the release are working with the latest powerbooks...

you best use the ppc-development-sources, we need people to use them and test them...
do a search here in the forum on the specific part, i'm sure the graphx has been handled here before

otherwise #gentoo-ppc on freenode is still available :D
