1) CDRW+DVD Combo
Quote:
UDF and ISO9600 should be in your kernel.
Otherwise, your have to compile the DVD/CD file systems with <M>.

If you hadn't created /mnt/cdrom, do this first.
Code:
# mkdir /mnt/cdrom

Code:
# nano /etc/fstab

/dev/cdroms/cdrom0      /mnt/cdrom      auto            defaults,uid=your-non-root-id        0 0

Reboot.
This fstab line will automatically handle CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD.
2) USB Flash Memory Drive
No need to put a line in fstab.
In your terminal (su),
Code:
# mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb -o uid=your-non-root-id

A "stronger" command (allowing every user to access) is
Code:
# mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb -o uid=777,gid=777,umask=000

I've found it even easier as (root)

Code:
 mount -t vfat -o rw /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb

assuming you have the /mnt/usb directory. and it's simple to write it in a bash script too.
