Hello,

I am considering a G5 for specific applications (i.e. scientific computing), which important memory requirements (and also tend to stress the cpu quite a bit).

So my questions are the following :

- is the 64 bits support for the G5 by gentoo ok now ?
or is everything compiled in 32 bits mode ?

- more precisely what is the maximal amount of memory that can be addressed by a Gentoo G5 ?
what is the limit per process ?

The last point is crucial for me.

Regards,

Xavier

2004.0 was entirely 32bit. We currently have 64bit stages and a livecd in the work. For detailled info, contact Tom Gall, tgall@gentoo.org.

This depends entirely on the kernel used. Tom Gall can provide you with exact info. and the difference between 32bit/64bit kernels.
