I'm having a wierd problem that I haven't seen other people mention... about every second boot or so the boot process wil freeze at the

Code:
PS/2 mouse... whatever blah

line and go no further. I have to do a hard power off and try again... ususally the second attempt works without a hitch, but when I dmesg there's heaps of this:

Code:

in the middle of the boot process. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Other info:

14" ibook 933
Code:
Linux kyte 2.6.2_rc3-benh1 #1 Wed Mar 17 23:39:48 GMT 2004 ppc 7455, altivec supported PowerBook6,3 GNU/Linux

Don't know if this is related at all but I can't compile any of the 2.6.3 kernels , can't remember where the compile borks but it does. I might try again when I've solved this. Oh yeah, I had this same boot freeze problem with ppc-development-sources-2.6.1-r1. I'm pretty stumped here so any opinions or help would be appreciated.

I have also had this error running 2.6.1-benh-r1 on a tibook 1Ghz.

I think its gone away though, after mucking with kernel 2.6.3 and not being able to compile it after copying over my old .config and doing make oldconfig in the 2.6.3 source tree, the compile fails on some ati radeon drivers.

I think I did a ybin -r on the 2.6.1 kernel(sinceI couldnt get 2.6.3 to properly compile). I also noticed that I get fewer of the ps/2 hangs if I let yaboot time out and pick linux for me, instead of hitting 'l'. but maybe im imaginging things.

solved :?::?:

I haven't really done anything kernel related except try (and fail) again with 2.6.3 and so have to run ybin -v to get back to my original kernel. Whatever it was, I've been able to boot without any problems at least half a dozen times. Go figure...

On a different note, like drparallax my 2.6.3 is borking at the radeon drivers - anyone got any ideas about this?

just saw that benH is working on some updates for the radeon drivers in 2.6.x right now (doing sleep fixes mostly) but have seen others having similar problems, sounds like just need to wait till the kernel hackers hack it out a bit more ;)
