|I only use my TV (X display :0.1) for watching movies, so it has always annoyed me that KDE automaticly starts a desktop on the second display if it's present, especially since i have configured the second display to be totaly separated from the first, so i can't even move the mouse over to it.
Well, I have searched for ways to tell KDE to not use the second display, but i didn't find any, so last night i did an ugly hack that makes it look like KDE is non present on teh second display.
I created a nice script that i put in ~/.kde/Autostart/
dcop kdesktop-screen-1 KDesktopIface setIconsEnabled false
dcop kicker-screen-1 Panel setPanelSize 0
dcop kwin-screen-1 MainApplication-Interface quit
#xsetroot -solid orange -display :0.1
xv -display :0.1 -root -quit -max /mnt/extra/gfx/wallpapers/_The_Zipper_.jpg
This is indeed an ugly hack because kicker and kdesktop will still consume resources as they are just hidden.
Better solutions are welcome, but i hope someone will benefit from this, atleast it partially solved a problem for me.
Changed to script to include line to shut off kwin.[/edit]
