i got a problem about yaboot (v 1.3.11, which is the latest version):

i got an ibook G4 with both gentoo and macosx installed.
booting macosx from yaboot works, but if i try booting gentoo, i just get a white screen

i think this is a yaboot related error, i tried it with several kernels, including the one the live-cd uses.

here`s my yaboot.conf:

Quote:
boot=/dev/hda2
device=hd:
partition=3
delay=10
timeout=40
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
ofboot=/dev/hda2
image=/vmlinux
label=Linux
sysmap=/System.map
append="video=ofonly"
root=/dev/hda3
read-only

macosx=/dev/hda6
macosx=hd:6
enablecdboot
enableofboot

hope someone got an idea.

thx so far
/chris

Chris,
Perhaps you could try some variations of your current image section to see if you can eliminate the issue. After choosing "l" at the first yaboot prompt, hit tab to see the different image options, then type in the one you want to try. Paste the following into your /etc/yaboot.conf, run ybin -v, and see if choosing one of them helps:

Code:

image=/vmlinux
   label=Linux-no_ofonly
   sysmap=/System.map
   root=/dev/hda3
   read-only

Code:

image=/vmlinux
   label=Linux-no_Sysmap
   append="video=ofonly"
   root=/dev/hda3
   read-only

Hope it works out. My suspicion is to try the one without the append argument first.

Regards,
