I'm running qemu with w98. this uses a files as diskimage.
when I create the image and do mkfs.vfat I can mount it as loop
device without any problem.
after the use of this image as hd for the emulation I can't mount it
any longer.
Code:

mount -t vfat -o loop file mountpoint
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop1,
or too many mounted file systems
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)

in syslog:
Mar 29 20:05:10 [kernel] FAT: invalid media value (0xb9)

I just downloaded an freedos image from the qemu homepage, wanted to mount that.
but got the same result:
Code:

Mar 29 20:04:52 [kernel] FAT: invalid media value (0xa5)

kernel 2.6.3-r2 with fat, msdos and vfat as modules. the modules are loaded correctly.

what might be the problem?

I don't know much about qemu but after a quick look at their documentation
http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/qemu-doc.html#SEC16
it looks like they just use a raw disk image and handle the formating of the disk image from within qemu.

Did you also have to format the drive durring the windows installation? If so unless qemu provides a way it may not be possable... :(

But then again I have never used qemu.. So who am I to say?

Format from within the Qemu emulation with the windows install... if you get my drift.

Bit tired tonight.
