Hi

I have a 400Mhz G4 Titanium Powerbook, and would like to run at 300Mhz when I'm on the road.

It should work, from Apple dev notes:

Quote:
On the PowerBook G4 computer, the slower clock speed is 100 MHz slower than the rated speed: 300 MHz on a 400-MHz model, 400 MHz on a 500 MHz model.

I have enabled the followering in my kernel:

Code:
CONFIG_6xx=y
CONFIG_ALTIVEC=y
CONFIG_TAU=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_USERSPACE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_PERFORMANCE=m
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_POWERSAVE=m
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_USERSPACE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_24_API=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_PMAC=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_TABLE=y

But /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/ and /proc/cpufreq is empty

I have tried diffrent kernels: 2.6.4, 2.6.5-rc2, 2.6.5-rc2-mm5 and a couple of benh's kernels

Hm, it looks like only the 500Mhz version is supported:

From /usr/src/linux/arch/ppc/platforms/pmac_cpufreq.c :

Code:
/* Else check for TiPb 500 */
        else if (machine_is_compatible("PowerBook3,2")) {
                /* We only know about 500Mhz model */
                if (cur_freq < 450000 || cur_freq > 550000)
                        goto out;
                hi_freq = cur_freq;
                low_freq = 300000;
                has_freq_ctl = 1;
                cpufreq_uses_pmu = 1;
        }

How do I hack this to add support for my 400Mhz ?

edit:

I just removed:

Code:
/* We only know about 500Mhz model */
                if (cur_freq < 450000 || cur_freq > 550000)
                        goto out;

And it works just fine :)
