running kernel 2.4.24-rc2, i am getting two strange floods, each very similar.

they are as follows:

when an app finishes emerging, it gives the message "Updating Dependancies"
and then on my system, it fills the screeen (can barely see the updating dependancies message at top) with messages, all the same, saying
Code:
/var/lib/init.d/depcache: line 2: #: command not found

this is repeated many many times. this led me to beleive that it was trying to execute commented lines.... or something.

the error is the same with rc, except it is: /path/to/rc (do not remember path now, will update after halt or reboot) and then the same error, except its line one, and that occurs at startup or halt (in between startup messages, like two errors, then a startup message, one error, startup message etc...)

this is not strictly system harming, but it is an anoyance that i would like to work out.

killfire

ps. this has occured over different kernels (i have tried 2.6.1, had 2.4.21..... ) same error, but it did not start as soon as i installed.
