When I run :

net-setup eth0

I get :

bash: net-setup: command not found

I get this on the minimal and universal live cd's and I have checked the md5 for both.

Gentoo is starting to piss me off

The PPC livecds don't have net-setup.

Load the kernel module for your ethernet card and then do dhcpcd eth0.

and if you don`t use dhcp then use ifconfig (man ifconfig) to configure your ip-address and add your dns server to /etc/resolv.conf

Because of the constantly updating nature of Gentoo (a gift AND a curse... ) your version will be updated to the final more or less automatically, simply by keeping your system up to date (via emerge -Uv world, etc) Perhaps a developer can correct me if I'm wrong on this one - but this is what I gathered from the 1.4/2004.0 upgrade discussions.
