I have a new iso which fixes the proc/sys mounting bug a lot of users were experiencing (especially 12 inch powerbook owners).

The new mini-install-universal-ppc-2004.1_rc3 cd can be found on my homepage (http://dev.gentoo.org/~pvdabeel/ or http://www.metadistribution.org/gentoo/experimental/2004.1-rc/ .) The 2004.1_rc3 iso features 4 vanilla 2.6.5 kernels and has been tested on several systems.

2004.1 will most likely be based on the kernels found on the rc3 iso. Bugreports appreciated

After working with Pieter on this for a few days, I can confirm that it does indeed work. My 12" Powerbook (867mhz) booted nicely from this new LiveCD.

Ok - I guess maybe I should move on, but I have loaded almost every other linux out there - this can't be that hard.

The CD ISO you put up gives me a boot but it has nothing on it... do I chroot to the / for the temporary and try to change CD's? Or how would I continue with the installation.

Thanks,

Val

I'm attempting to use this iso on a PowerBook Lombard, but there isn't a G3 kernel. Any thoughts?

I'm trying to install gentoo for the first time on a iMac G3 333Mhz but the boot cd doesn't have a G3 kernel in it! Is there anyway for me to install this thing at all???

Anyway, I try to boot G4 and I this is what happens...

(...) yedah yedah yedah
Mounted devfs on /dev
Freeing unused kernel memory: 168k init 4k chrp 8k prep

(so far so good)

EXT2-fs error (device ram0): ext2_check_page: bad entry in directory #7505: rec_len is smaller than minimal - offset=0, inode=0, rec_len=0, name_len=0
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
<0>Rebooting in 180 seconds.._

best regards
José Silva
