i have two questions, and i have been earching around and have found only the barest solutions.

what optimizations (in kernel, or anywhere selse) do i need to get and ibook 2.2 (800mhz 640ram 2.6.4 kernel) to play dvds, without skipping. i have heard it mentioned that it is possible, but never are the steps ever stated.

also, when burning cds, on a 2.6.4 kernel, i do not need to use scsi emulationg, so i use ide-cd right? i have probed that, but then what device do i give to cdrecord or whatever.
my main goal is to be able to burn an .iso file

thanks,

Use this to see the parameters
Code:
cdrecord -scanbus -dev=ATAPI

And then use something like
Code:
cdrecord -dev=ATAPI:0,1,0

Naturally you can use cdrecord file in /etc/default/ to set your setting. See man cdrecord for more.

i did that, got the device, and tried to burn a disc, and it gave me an error that said "failure to load media" and "load media by hand", even though i had a disc in there.
