|DOSBOX is great, but its a pain in the butt to start something with just the command dosbox. However, I found a bit of a workaround.
Here's how I start Gold Rush:
|dosbox -c "mount c /home/steve/games" -c "c:" -c "cd goldrush" -c "sierra.com" -c "exit" |
What it does is first mounts my games directory as the c: drive, then changes to the c: drive, then changes to the goldrush directory and finally runs sierra.com.
The cool thing is that when goldrush finishes running, dosbox closes itself with the last command, "exit"
Another way to do the same thing would just create some .bat scripts for DOS, and then do:
|dosbox -c "mount c /home/steve/games" -c "c:\bats\goldrush.bat" |
But then you'd have to do the same thing in a batch file, so I'm not sure it would save that much time.
Either way, you can use that line to create menu entries for dosbox games, which is what my goal was all along. Maybe dosbox in the future will make it easier to pass commands.
If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki
