Well, i just figured out what my problem was https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=161351&highlight= apparently the current version of yaboot doesnt like to boot into reiserfs. I figured id post this to prevent a lot of headaches and trouble shooting. If someone knows either what i did wrong or a way to fix this id be very interested in how to get around this.

Are you sure it's yaboot? When I have having problems with reiserfs before someone said that it was a problem with the 2.6 kernel on ppc. With 2.4.x I was able to use reiser just fine, yaboot and all.

In any event, my solution was to justify a reformat by saying I could start with a stage1 tarball instead of a stage3 like I had before. ;)

I just did a re-install of the 2004.1 from a stage 1. I used reiserfs. Everything seems ok so far and it definately boots fine. I'll let you know if I have problems.
