So you bought a Yopy-3700 with a Pretec wlan-card.
It cost you a lot of money and no matter what you try, you can't
get the stupid thing to work. Seems that you spend your money
for noting on that wlan-card.
This was what I thought for a while. Fortunate for me I got help
from the people who sold me the whole thing :wink:

This is how I *finaly* got my wlan card working.

Actually it is very simple when you have good drivers. The drivers
I use can be downloaded here:
http://home.wanadoo.nl/mktennapel/pcmcia-wlan-modules.tar.gz

Once you have them downloaded, copy them to your Yopy-3700
and put them in your homedir ( /etc/root/ )

Now go to the root of the yopy filesystem (important, otherwise
the file wont get to the right place!!)
Code:

cd /

Now untar the package.
Code:

tar -xvzf /home/root/pcmcia-wlan-modules.tar.gz

There is a minor error in the package, the ownership of the drivers
is not correct. We have to correct that.
Code:

chown root.root /lib/modules/2.4.2-yopy1/kernel/net/orinoco.o
chown root.root /lib/modules/2.4.2-yopy1/kernel/net/orinoco_cs.o
chown root.root /lib/modules/2.4.2-yopy1/kernel/net/hermes.o

Now you need to edit /etc/pcmcia/network.opts. Here is how mine looks.
Code:

# Network adapter configuration
#
# The address format is "scheme,socket,instance,hwaddr".
#
# Note: the "network address" here is NOT the same as the IP address.
# See the Networking HOWTO.  In short, the network address is the IP
# address masked by the netmask.
#
case "$ADDRESS" in
*,*,*,*)
    INFO="Yopy CompactFlash network adapter setup"
    # Transceiver selection, for some cards -- see 'man ifport'
    IF_PORT=""
    # Use BOOTP (via /sbin/bootpc, or /sbin/pump)? [y/n]
    BOOTP="n"
    # Use DHCP (via /sbin/dhcpcd, /sbin/dhclient, or /sbin/pump)? [y/n]
    DHCP="n"
    # Host's IP address, netmask, network address, broadcast address
    IPADDR="192.168.5.5"
    NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
    NETWORK="192.168.5.0"
    BROADCAST="192.168.5.255"
    # Gateway address for static routing
    GATEWAY="192.168.5.10"
    # Things to add to /etc/resolv.conf for this interface
    DOMAIN="famtennapel.com"
    SEARCH="famtennapel.com"
    DNS_1="192.168.5.10"
    DNS_2="194.134.5.5"
    DNS_3="194.134.5.55"
    # NFS mounts, should be listed in /etc/fstab
    MOUNTS=""
    # For IPX interfaces, the frame type and network number
    IPX_FRAME=""
    IPX_NETNUM=""
    # Extra stuff to do after setting up the interface
    start_fn () { return; }
    # Extra stuff to do before shutting down the interface
    stop_fn () { return; }
    ;;
esac

Now you need to edit /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opts and set your
ssid.
Code:

#=======INFRASTRUCTURE STATION START===================
        # SSID is all we have for now
        AuthType="opensystem"           # opensystem | sharedkey (requires WEP)
        DesiredSSID="SET_YOUR_SSID_HERE"
        # DesiredSSID=""
        # DesiredSSID=""

I used notepad to do this. I don't like to work with vi.. :roll:
once you have done that, all you have to do is restart the pcmcia
interface.
Code:

/etc/init.d/pcmcia restart

If everything works well you have your wlan up as eth0

Enjoy!! :D

Thanks to Roalt Zijlstra who crosscompiled the drivers for Yopy-3700
and figured this all out.
