Hello!

I tried the new LiveCD from gentoo 2004.1 (universal) on my Pegasos I but i got some problems:

On the page of GentooPPC-Developer David Holm [ http://dev.gentoo.org/~dholm/ppc.html ] is the following command:

Code:
boot cd /boot/pegasos root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc looptype=gcloop cdroot

When i type this command into the OpenFirmware i got this message:

Code:
error: error while trying to load or boot

When i change the cd in /ide/cd there appears the following message:

Code:
ISO-9660 filesystem: System-ID: "LINUX" Volume-ID: "CDROM"
Root dir: " " flags=0x2 extent=0x1C size=0x800
no such file /boot/pegasos
error: cannot open file for reading or writing

When i change the /boot/pegasos in /boot/pegasos.;1 the following happens:
The Pegasos starts loading from CD, jumps to the screen with that nice framebuffer-pinguin  and throws the following output:

Code:
Thermal assist unit using timers, shrink_timer: 2000 jiffies
ikconfig 0.7 with /proc/config*

Are you sure that's an OF command? I don't know how the bootloader works in regards to pegasOS, but that looks more like something to enter into a yaboot prompt.[/quote]

So i tried this command with yaboot - with following error:

Code:

Please wait, loading kernel...
boot: Not a valid ELF image

Also the developer David Holm says only the following:
"Simply download the universal install disc for PowerPC and type the following at boot: boot cd /boot/pegasos root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc looptype=gcloop cdroot."

couple things to check ...

ls cd

that should show you the contents on the drive ... I bet you may have to do like

boot cd /BOOT/PEGASOS

or somethign like that, SF is a bit funky sometimes on certain cd's and reads them as 8.3 formatted ...
