I was just emerging KDE 3.2.2 (upgrading from 3.2.1) and all compiles fine except "kdeutils-3.2.2". Here are the last few lines of the make process:

What is this 'kmilo/powerbook2'? Can anyone help?
I am using kernel 2.4.x and this is a PowerBook G3 400 (Pismo).

I ran into this URL where someone is asking about some patches going to be made to this "kmilo" thing for ppc..... I don't understand any of it, but maybe someone else does: http://lists.debian.org/debian-qt-kde/2004/04/msg00530.html

Heimir,

Please see bug 44295. You probably need to upgrade your version of pbbuttonsd. After dealing with this bug, I now have kde-3.2.2 working fine on my G3 PowerBook.

Thanks a lot, I'm going to have to start searching bugzilla.

It worked!

Great, I was experimenting the same problem!
Now I'll try this solution!

I've had the same problem while trying to merge kde-3.4.1 on powerbook g4 (kde-utils failed). Problem solved with merging kde before pbbuttonsd, so i suggest: emerge --unmerge pbbuttonsd && emerge kde && emerge pbbuttonsd, don't know why is that, maybe some strange dependencies in kde-utils? :)

Almost forget, that upgrading pbbuttons did not solved this problem although I've synced portage yesterday.

If you're using an unstable version of pbbuttonsd and a stable version of KDE it won't work, the messaging code changed between versions. If you use either both stable or both unstable, it should work fine. If you do not have pbbuttonsd installed before emerging kde on a stable install KDE won't have pbbuttonsd support. On unstable versions, pbbuttonsd is a proper dependency.
