Hi,

I have some issues with my new Powerbook. When I try to boot I get this output and nothing happens. But the strange thing is, that I can shut down the PB by holding down the Powerbutton for some seconds and try to boot again and then (if I have luck) the PB boots without any problems. This procedurce has to be done several times, if the kernel doesn't boot the second boot.

Here is the output right after yaboot has booted:

Code:

Welcome to Linux, kernel 2.6.5-gentoo-r1

linked at: 0xc0000000
frame buffer at: 0xa0004000 (phys), 0xd0004000 (log)

MSR: 0x00003030
HID0: 0x8410c0bc

pmac_init(): exit
id mach(): done
MMU: enter
MMU: hw init

(might have misspelled some some words while coying words from screen...)

What is this about??

Is it simply a case of not having framebuffer support in the kernel, ie: the PB boots, but displays nothing to screen?

Why not use ppc-development-sources for your kernel?

well... it boots, but not every time I power it on...

I'll try ppc-development-sources when I've some free time... :roll:

I finaly get this error passed by removing the "bootup logo" option from my kernel. Works perfect now.
