Oops! :-)

By juggling between various ACCEPT_KEYWORDS and emerge routines, and being too ambitious, I've managed to hose my system. Most any command now returns:

Code:
ls: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3.4' not found (required by ls)

Of course emerge doesn't work either.

Any ideas on what I could do to recover the system, besides a re-install (about which I have an ominous feeling, is probably the only way to fix it).

Am getting a PPC-crosscompiler installed on my x86 machine at the moment, but I think I have a loooooooong way to go.

Any tips or ideas would really be appreciated.

How about chrooting in via a LiveCD and re-emerging glibc and system?

Well, when it happened to me at the beginning of the month I decided on
a reinstall so I could be clean.
That being said I toyed with the idea suggested by ImmortalQ, boot a
live cd, chroot and rebuild some of your system from there. You
will need a tool chain with a version of glibc high enougth if you
want to limit yourself to rebuilding the toolchain and using the programs
you previously compiled. Most other way are almost like a pure reinstall.

Thanks for that. Yeah, I have now got around to booting the LiveCD, and have started reconstructing it. Copied over 'ls', 'mv', 'cat', 'dhcpcd', 'devfsd' etc to at least be able to boot back into the system, and am slowly re-emerging things back into place.
