i woudl like very much to do a stage one install on a computer that i have, but i cannot get it to a highspeed internet connection. i do, however, have access to one, and i would like to know if anyone has a list of all the source files that i would need to perform a netless install, preferably with a 1.4 install or a 2004.0... because i already have those .iso's.

i hav already grabbed what i think is most necesary (gcc, glibc, kernel source, portage tree), but i know there must be more.

does anyone have a list that i could use, and an idea of a script to snag the files (via curl probably) from a gentoo mirror, that has the distfiles...

the only catch is, and its a big catch, the computer that im using is running mac os 10.3... that means general shell scripts work, but i cant just get it to emerge -f everything..... too bad.

well, i think you should be able to install just fine of the live cd. If you want to get sources for stuff I think you will just have to get sources for stuff and burn them on a cd.

Use:

Code:
emerge -pvf foo

That will give a list of mirrors for the files needed to install foo. I imagine you can use that for emerge system or whatever else to get an idea of where to download stuff from.

I can make the sources available on a second cd if that is wanted, just give me a ping at pvdabeel@gentoo.org if you want me to upload them.
