Is the yaboot.conf entry for ide-scsi the same as in lilo.conf:

append="hda=ide-scsi"

(hda is my CD ROM on the G5)
Or is it any different?

I never tried it with yaboot, now with kernel 2.6 I don't use anymore scsi emulation (also for burning cds).
If you want to use it I suggest to try the usual lilo's command (append="hda=ide-scsi"), in the worst situation nothing will happen :wink:

this is my yaboot.conf without scsi emulation, but look at append var: I was using also ide-scsi some time ago.

Code:
boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:
partition=5
delay=10
root=/dev/hda5
timeout=30
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
append="hdc=ide-cd"
default=2.6.5_rc2-benh1-d1

#macosx=/dev/hda10

image=/boot/vmlinux
        label=Linux
        read-only

image=/boot/vmlinux-2.6.5_rc2-benh1-d1
        label=2.6.5_rc2-benh1-d1

image=/boot/vmlinux-2.6.5_rc2-benh1
        label=2.6.5_rc2-benh1

I presume you mean powermac G5. What kernel are you using. As stated earlier in this thread for 2.6 you don't need scsi emulation.

I have a G5 also and I don't need scsi emulation. What program do you use to burn CD's. I emerged kb3 and everything works out of the box. For command line you have to do something like
Code:
cdrecord -v dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 speed=4 blank=fast -data junk/backUpIso

Quite right, G5. Kernel is gentoo-developer-sources. I'd love to use kb3 but I have trouble with X at the moment (it's got _something_ to do with the TFT monitor, but I haven't looked into it deeper yet). I'll try cdrecord with the parameters you are mentioning. Maybe it just works :)
