hello... well you might have seen the questions too often. however, as i am browsing through here i just can't seem to find the exact answers to what i am looking for.

i have an TiBook, 1GHz G4 processor, standard model from late 2002. i used to run yellow dog linux on it, using a 2.4-benh kernels. now i installed gentoo and 1) there are no benh kernels available? i read that they are merged, though and are now part of the original kernel branch? 2) i compiled the official 2.6.5 kernel ppc-developer-source but i was not sure at all about the confiuration. and i could not find a proper config online (the ppcconfdb wasn't of much help in my case).

so if any of you has a proper config file, or any hits and tips please let me know! thanks heaps...

jens

Hi Jens

On the live CD in the proc directory there is a file called config.gz if you use the grzip -d /mnt/gentoo command it will unzip the config from the live cd which should have detected all your hardware. I then used the chmod 664 command on config and then did this cp config /mnt/gentoo/usr/src/linux/.config

.config is the name of the kernel settings file.... once that is in the /usr/src/linux directory you can compile your kernel with those settings!

hope this helps

Simon
