I have a 1.5 Ghz G4 powerbook, and OS X runs great, but all the linux distros I've tried have a display bug. Its like a few bars are being reflected 2 inches to the left. I heard there was a kernel patch for this. Please help!

Still having the same problem. I've tried to upgrade to the official radeon drivers, but they are masked under emerge and I have a crapload of trouble with rpm dependencies. Please help!

What kernel are you using? I suggest you try at least 2.6.7, there have been some radeon fixes recently.

I emerge ati-drivers, the newest one by using the full ebuild path, but I can't find the files anywhere. All I need is
Code:
fglrxconfig
. Please help!

I'm not sure if ati-drivers is supposed to work on ppc. I'm really not sure what else to do. :(

Where did you hear that there was a kernel patch for this?

I don't think ati-drivers will help. Are your video issues in the framebuffer, in X (xfree, X.org, whichever), or something else? Are you using radeonfb? And my final question - could you post the results of "dmesg | grep radeon" and/or "dmesg | grep Radeon". (There's probably a flag for case sensitivity, but the man page is long and I'm tired.)

I have a Radeon 9800 card. Is there any other way I can get 3d acceleration?

On PPC, you won't get any 3D acceleration for some time - ATI has drivers through the 9800 series for Linux, but they're only available for 32-bit x86 - anyone else has to use the open source drivers, which only support radeons through the 9200 series, at present.

I think you can get 2d acceleration just fine with the 9800, but opengl stuff will be a bit slow.

Will Xfree-drm work at all? I don't need 3d acceleration, I just want to fix the video so the picture is CLEAR.

I did notice in the other powerbook topic it said XFree 4.3.0 doesn't work for powerbooks, but that's the latest version I can emerge. How can I get a newer one? I checked the site, but no linux ppc version. Which would it be?

 Well, changing the drivers to radeon fixes the display, but then it freezes every time on the login screen. Any ideas?
