Hey everybody.
I'm running Gentoo on an P3 notebook but I want to switch as first box to a PowerMac G4 with dual processor. I've seen that the new Gentoo 2004 release is optimized also for the dual processors power management. What I'm wondering about is if I actually might notice a power increasement with the single applications as also each Mac OS X native program had to be "re-designed" for dual processor's optimization. Do I really gain speed awith OOo, Thunderbird, Gimp, KDE etc. (just to speak of those divoring lots of ressources) or would a single processor G 4 would do pretty much the same for me under Linux?
Thanks for all comments.

Hi!

yes, you have to "re-design" an application to fit the needs for an multiprozessor system, but if you run more then one application at the same time (well.... I assume you do this  ) one programm is running on the first prozessor and the next on the second (... a realy simple representation...)

So you will have some speed up! (I like working on the dual g5 of my dad  )
