Hello
I'm trying to get ppc64-sources-2.6.6-r0 on G5 and it keeps quitting out on arch/ppc64/kernel/idle_power4.o.

Here is the error I get:
Code:

livecd linux # make
  SPLIT   include/linux/autoconf.h -> include/config/*
make[1]: `arch/ppc64/kernel/asm-offsets.s' is up to date.
  CHK     include/asm-ppc64/offsets.h
  CHK     include/linux/compile.h
dnsdomainname: Unknown host
  AS      arch/ppc64/kernel/idle_power4.o
arch/ppc64/kernel/idle_power4.S: Assembler messages:
arch/ppc64/kernel/idle_power4.S:71: Error: Unrecognized opcode: `dssall'
make[1]: *** [arch/ppc64/kernel/idle_power4.o] Error 1
make: *** [arch/ppc64/kernel] Error 2

Here is my make.conf:

Quote:

CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=power4 -mtune=power4 -mabi=altivec -maltivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe"
CHOST="powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc64 ~ppc"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"
USE="ppc64 altivec"
GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com"

And for good measure, my .config

I can't answer. If you don't get an answer may I suggest IRC on

since your problem seems like the 64 bit installation on G5.

In your

CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=power4 ...

the cpu is power4 which is not correct. The G5 uses ppc970 as far as I know. I am fairly sure that this is the cause for your trouble.

There is a coinfig file located under /usr/src/linux/arch/ppc64/configs which can boot your kernel. I got as far as init. Shortly beore init starts the Mac was resettet and I could just make out a flashing "no initial console found".
