Hi,

I put an tarball of portage on my server which was build on my powerbook using CFLAGS="-O1" and CXXFLAGS="-O1". (portage version 2.0.50-r8 )

You can try to extract it manualy to / and see what you get... Sorry, no other ideas how to fix this...

Here is the download link: http://www.unixforces.net/downloads/portage-2.0.50-r8.tbz2

Could you please tell me when you have finished the downloading?

Markus

EDIT: ok... you were faster...

I gave this a shot but no luck

 * Unable to proceed. Can not find PORTDIR. Make sure the command:
 *
 *   portageq portdir
 *
 * returns a value. If it doesn't, make sure you have updated to
 * latest portage version.
 *
 * Report bugs to http://bugs.gentoo.org/

Looks like I might have to reinstall.

I don't know if it works, but couldn't you simply grab the latest grp packages and untar them in /usr?

Maybe give it a try before reinstalling.

Good luck!
