Well, scripts, plural, but that didn't fit nicely in the title.
  • Mozilla Profile Directory Script: Returns the directory of the current profile in Mozilla. Trivial if there is one profile (99% of the time); not a lot of fun if there are multiple profiles. Not terribly interesting on its own, but required for...
  • Firefox Quicksearch Script: Lets you run a Firefox quicksearch (e.g., google "gentoo linux" firefox, as you would type into the address bar) from the command line. Just run, in this case, quicksearch google "gentoo linux" firefox. That's still probably not more convenient than opening Firefox first, so to solve that and other problems, we have...
  • XFCE4 Terminal Script (xfterm4) Replacement: When you type something into a command line on your XFCE4 panel and press CTRL+ENTER, or when you use "Run in Terminal" in its Run dialog (usually ALT+F2), this is the script that is run. Previously you could enter a command to run it, a filename to view that file with less, a directory to open a command prompt there, or a web site to view it in Lynx. Now entering a command runs it and pauses so that you can see its output, entering a filename opens it in $EDITOR, entering a web site opens it in $BROWSER, entering foo opens www.foo.com in $BROWSER, and entering a quicksearch (e.g., dict test) runs the search in Firefox. (Entering a directory works as before.)
