I just got a stage 2 install on my 1Ghz IBook. Yaboot seems to work fine. I was able to boot into my gentoo install without problems numerous times today. However the last two times, I'd get the very first kernel messages regarding the processor and then nothing. No kernel space messages, no driver messages, nothing. It's just blank. I'm using the 2.6.7 gentoo development sources and yaboot.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm considering using the livecd to chroot back in and try using a 2.4.* kernel to see if I have any better luck.

I've found that 2.6.7-gentoo-r5 occasionally fails to set the monitor up properly at boot so that nothing is displayed. I can still hear the machine booting up, though...

A couple of reboots later and all is ok - I put it down to stray positrons bombarding my ibook ;)

cheers, dan.

Yah, it's an odd problem. I was getting some errors related to generic PC keyboard/mice input devices and I'm currently working on pulling those drivers out of the kernel. Booting seems to be more consistant without them.
