Hi.

NTPL requires linux-headers-2.6, so I added by hand the respective keyword to linux-headers-2.6.7. The bootstrap goes fine but then sash fails to build while emerging the system. The error is:

Code:
gcc -O3 -mtune=G5 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -DHAVE_GZIP=1 -DHAVE_LINUX_ATTR=1 -DHAVE_LINUX_MOUNT=1 -DHAVE_BSD_MOUNT=0 -DMOUNT_TYPE='"ext3"' -DHAVE_READLINE   -c -o cmds.o cmds.c
In file included from /usr/include/linux/prefetch.h:14,
                 from /usr/include/linux/list.h:5,
                 from /usr/include/linux/wait.h:12,
                 from /usr/include/linux/fs.h:12,
                 from cmds.c:21:
/usr/include/asm/processor.h:550: error: parse error before "vector128"
/usr/include/asm/processor.h:556: error: parse error before '}' token
In file included from /usr/include/linux/fs.h:12,
                 from cmds.c:21:
/usr/include/linux/wait.h: In function `init_waitqueue_head':
/usr/include/linux/wait.h:58: error: `SPIN_LOCK_UNLOCKED' undeclared (first use in this function)
/usr/include/linux/wait.h:58: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
/usr/include/linux/wait.h:58: error: for each function it appears in.)

This may or may not have something to do with linux-headers, but the problematic processor.h does look sane at a quick inspection, so I am not sure. Any idea is appreciated.

Building on a dual G5 (2GHz), gcc 3.4.0-r6, with the following options:

Code:
CFLAGS="-O3 -mtune=G5 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fsigned-char"
CHOST="powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j3"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc64"

I was reading somewhere on the gentoo forums (since I was thinking of going from 2.4 headers to 2.6 header with 2.6 kernels) that after emerging 2.6 headers one should emerge glibc again. I don't know if this is your situation.

2.6.6 headers work perfect. 2.6.7 headers have issues only with sysklogd ans sash, they work just fine otherwise. I'm using gcc-3.4, glibc-2.3.4 (with nptl) and 2.6.7 headers and kernel myself.
