Here is the continuation of the full PPC64 install saga on my dual G5 (2GHz). Today's episode: building the kernel. First, I stumbled precisely upon bug 52532 (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52532) while attempting to build the current ppc64-sources (kernel 2.6.7-r0) using the following:

Code:
turing linux # as --version | head -n 1
GNU assembler 2.15.91.0.1 20040527
turing linux # gcc --version | head -n 1
gcc (GCC) 3.4.0 20040601 (Gentoo Linux 3.4.0-r6, ssp-3.4-2, pie-8.7.6.3)

Downgrading to binutils 2.15.90.0.3-r3 goes through the kernel fine until it stumbles over missing headers! Seems like RTC and AGP are not compilable on PPC64 (since asm/rtc.h and asm/agp.h are missing), can somebody confirm this or provide a workaround? Other than this, the kernel seems to build fine (but I did not boot it yet).
