Hello :)

Is it true that two button mice doesn't work on Gentoo ? I have read that I can assign the actions to buttons, but the buttons of the mouse doesn't work.

Thanks

I don't know about 2 button mice, but my 3 button mouse is working without a problem, so, to answer your question, no, it's not true.

Im using gentoo ppc on a g5.

My USB mouse has 2 buttons + scroll wheel & button + two extra buttons on the side.

All 7 buttons work just fine! (scroll wheels are 2 buttons, 1 up, 1 down under linux).

Getting buttons 6&7 working needed im wheel, but on the plus side I can now map them to whatever I want. The USB mouse just worked out of the box with nothing extra neeeded.

(Although there is an 8th button that I cant get working ;) :), but I think 2 buttons should be any problem at all.

I've probably got a similar mouse, however I can't seem to get the scroll to work. I'm using xorg-x11. Could you post your mouse device section from your config file? Thanks.

Logitech mx500 works with...

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "ButtonNumber" "8"
Option "Buttons" "8"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "InputFashion" "Mouse"
Option "Name" "USB-Mouse;ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
# think I had to change this for Im wheel, I cant remember,
# try the other if the first one fails...
# Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection
