iBook 600 8Mb ATI Rage model, 640Mb of ram and non stock replacement parts Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2412 (it says DVD rom but it does burn CDs) and 30Gb IBM-IC25N030ATDA04-0 on OS X 10.2.8

If so how would I go about getting it to work, I remember someone telling me that I can't just download it via web browser or Finder. How should I burn it? I have Toast 6 Ti if need be.

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for a LiveCD disk image (ISO) which can be found here. If you're interested in installing it, check out the handbook. The ppc version, at least, is going through some awkward phases, but for the most part it's very well written and informative.
You may also find the experiences of other PPC users on this forum to be useful, so take some time and browse through. Good luck!

I Want the LiveCD because its a LiveCD, I was asking how exactly to go about downloading and burning it to disk and what problems, if any I may have with the hardware I'ma be running it on.

In terms of downloading and installing, just grab one of the release ppc universal iso images, then burn them via Toast or Disk Utility. Boot from the CD by holding down the "c" key on boot, and voila - you're there. I don't own an iBook, so I don't know what issues you'll run into - so a search for "ibook" and see what comes up.

it seems that what you are truly looking for, does not exist as of yet. it was said that it would be made, but then it was forgotten about (or more important things came up)

the last true "livecd", as in knoppix-like operation, was with 1.4

if you download the ppc-universal, the computer will start up, and everything basic will be there, but nothing as complex as X11. its really only meant to be as live as necesary to install gentoo. or do some emergency things.

i dont know if you could still get a copy of the iso for the 1.4 cd. but that cd works for me on an ibook 800... which means that it should definately work on yours.

stage3-g4-20040412.tar.bz2 20-Apr-2004 23:34 91M
stage3-ppc-20040412.tar.bz2 20-Apr-2004 23:35 94M

creating those (without the ones that pieter had to remake due to errors/new pathces etc) and getting them uploaded from our homes takes about 5 days...
Pieter bought a G5 especially for creating cd's... we pay for the uploads, we pay for the cd's and for the hardware...

It's just a big task, and because we don't have enough systems and users helping out we simply can't get to the LiveCD (like the one in 1.4)...

greetings,

no offence meant.

i was merely stating that the livecd was put off, because more important things were needed. not that the dev team was too lazy, nothign of the sort.
