I have repeated tried to boot from the LiveCD and install the Gentoo PPC software. I downloaded the install-ppc-universal-2004.1.iso. The operating system is version 10.1.2. I have repartitioned the hard drive installing OS-X on one partition and leaving the other section for Linux.

Please note, I am placing the LiveCD in the drive, rebooting the system, and holding down the "C" key.

Suggestions?

If the system absolutely refuses to correctly interpret the "c" key, try holding down the "option" key and selecting the cd from there. If that also fails, you might want to try the Open Firmware route. Hold down command-option-O-F on startup, then, at the prompt, type "boot cd:\\:tbxi", and hit return. That should force booting from the CD. Let me know what works.

The other option is to try and boot via OS X. Here's a howto for Debian. I don't know how much of it applies to Gentoo since I've never used this method.
