I've been trying to boot the ppc64 installation CD for pSeries machines (from http://dev.gentoo.org/~tgall) on an old 7043/260 machine.)
That machine's OF only seems to boot yaboot via the command
0> boot cdrom:yaboot
(e.g., no partition number, comma, or leading slash.)
Pressing TAB at the yaboot "boot:" prompt shows no configured kernels
(I don't know whether yaboot's looking for the config info in the wrong place or if it just isn't there ...)
I can manually load a kernel:
(and in this case the partition number, comma, and leading slash seem to be necessary), but it's not clear to me that it's possible to force a ramdisk to be loaded before the kernel from yaboot's prompt.
I -think- that the machine's firmware is up-to-date (I know that I upgraded it within the last year or so.) I have used yaboot to boot other Linux distributions off of a hard (SCSI) disk on that machine.
Any ideas ? Do the pSeries ISOs work for other pSeries users ? (For other 7043/260 users, if such exist ?)
