In the thread at https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=167465&highlight=powerpc32 there was a mention of a (handy indeed) utility called powerpc32, which appears to have disappeared in the meantime. The location that is mentioned for the thing (ftp.linuxppc64.org/pub/people/tgall) has disappeared, anybody knows where can I get it from? Thanks in advance.

Thanks disk, this was heppful indeed. Now all I have to is figure out the meaning of this:
Code:
turing portage # ~/powerpc32 /bin/uname
bash: /root/powerpc32: No such file or directory

I guess nobody'd seen the sources of the thing, eh?

Well, for the time being powerpc32 does not seem to work, but replacing when needed /bin/uname and /bin/arch by
Code:
/bin/uname64 $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6 | sed -e s/ppc64/ppc/
/bin/arch64 $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6 | sed -e s/ppc64/ppc/

respectively (where the original stuff got a "64" suffix) does the trick just fine (though in a more awkward manner). This is how I convinced glut to build for instance. More successes to come (one hopes  ).
