Dual G5 2GHz, 64-bit toolchain and applications. The installation of dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.18 (and also -r2) seems to go fine, but at the end no dynamic library is installed! Here is what I get for instance when I list /usr/lib/sasl2/:
Code:
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 25042 Jul 16 16:34 libanonymous.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   627 Jul 16 16:34 libanonymous.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 29036 Jul 16 16:34 libcrammd5.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   621 Jul 16 16:34 libcrammd5.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 78328 Jul 16 16:34 libdigestmd5.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   636 Jul 16 16:34 libdigestmd5.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 25636 Jul 16 16:34 liblogin.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   623 Jul 16 16:34 liblogin.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 51328 Jul 16 16:34 libntlm.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   621 Jul 16 16:34 libntlm.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 25484 Jul 16 16:34 libplain.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   623 Jul 16 16:34 libplain.la
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 37828 Jul 16 16:34 libsasldb.a
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root   634 Jul 16 16:34 libsasldb.la

That's no good, I should be getting instead something like this:
Code:
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    838 Mar 16 10:35 libanonymous.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     22 Jun 22 09:10 libanonymous.so -> libanonymous.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     22 Jun 22 09:10 libanonymous.so.2 -> libanonymous.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root  12592 Mar 16 10:35 libanonymous.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    826 Mar 16 10:35 libcrammd5.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     20 Jun 22 09:10 libcrammd5.so -> libcrammd5.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     20 Jun 22 09:10 libcrammd5.so.2 -> libcrammd5.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root  15116 Mar 16 10:35 libcrammd5.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    847 Mar 16 10:35 libdigestmd5.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     22 Jun 22 09:10 libdigestmd5.so -> libdigestmd5.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     22 Jun 22 09:10 libdigestmd5.so.2 -> libdigestmd5.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root  41328 Mar 16 10:35 libdigestmd5.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    814 Mar 16 10:35 liblogin.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     18 Jun 22 09:10 liblogin.so -> liblogin.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     18 Jun 22 09:10 liblogin.so.2 -> liblogin.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root  13036 Mar 16 10:35 liblogin.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    814 Mar 16 10:35 libplain.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     18 Jun 22 09:10 libplain.so -> libplain.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     18 Jun 22 09:10 libplain.so.2 -> libplain.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root  13036 Mar 16 10:35 libplain.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root    894 Mar 16 10:35 libsasldb.la
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     19 Jun 22 09:10 libsasldb.so -> libsasldb.so.2.0.18
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     19 Jun 22 09:10 libsasldb.so.2 -> libsasldb.so.2.0.18
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 798308 Mar 16 10:35 libsasldb.so.2.0.18

No wonder that no mechanisms can be found when I try to do anything SASL related!

The package has been built as follows:
Code:
turing cyrus-sasl # qpkg -i -vv cyrus-sasl-2.1.18/
dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.18 *
   /var/db/pkg/dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.18/cyrus-sasl-2.1.18.ebuild
        The Cyrus SASL (Simple Authentication and Security Layer) [ http://asg.web.cmu.edu/sasl/ ]
Compiled with USE Flags: gdbm -ldap -mysql -postgres -kerberos -static ssl -java pam

What am I missing? Advice/workarounds are appreciated.

Nevermind, bug 56615 (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56615) is the culprit, once the symlink is in place everything is dandy.
