Why can't I run 'genkernel --menuconfig all' with a gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r11 AND 2.4.26-ppc-r3???
I only got the the message "No kernel .config specified, or file not found!" all the time.
The kernel is reainstalled and it's on a new system without any configs in the kernels directory or /etc/kernels

I'm soon going crasy on my mums Mac. I gave her it then I bought a PC and now I want to make a clone of my Gentoo PC system on it.
Arrrgggghhh!!! :-( :-( :-(

Stupid question, but did you make sure /usr/src/linux points to the kernel you want?

Yes! :-)

But now I have succeded with 'make menuconfig' and the kernel is in place. The problem right now is the yaboot.conf file.
I have only one disk and it must be at hdb, not hda. How should I change the 'device=hd:' option?
Then I tried to start it yesterday it seems that it couldn't find the bootstrappartition on hdb6 .

I'm not familiar with yaboot.conf? What is it? Is this something to do with the bootloader (lilo or grub)?

That's weird that with only one disk, it shows up as hdb. Did you make sure by checking
Code:
fdisk /dev/hdb
or
Code:
cfdisk /dev/hdb
?

Tomek32: Yaboot is the PPC-specific bootloader. While Grub 2 will most likely have ppc support, yaboot is the only option for New-World PPC machines. If you plan on hanging out in the PPC forums, you may want to glance through some of the PPC-specific sections of the Handbook and relevant FAQs, just to bring yourself up to speed with the differences.

Sorry, I hadn't even thought of checking which forums these are. Had no idea this was for PPC.

I'll make sure to check next time before posting.
