I have a total noob question in regards to installing portage on os x. I'm following the instructions on the gentoo os x wiki to install portage. I ran the bootstrap script and received all OKs and the message that gentoo has tamed panther so I assume the bootstrap script completed successfully. I'm trying to run the next step which is to emerge system but the emerge command is not recognized. Is there a specific directory I need to be in to run emerge or should I be able to run it from root.

Thanks.
Richard

You will need to add /usr/lib/portage/bin to your $PATH.

If you are running bash, do:
Code:
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/portage/bin

and add this line to your .bashrc in your home directory.

If you are running tcsh, do:
Code:
set path=( $path /usr/lib/portage/bin )

and add this line to your .tcshrc in your home directory.
